The holiday season is always a blur of activity for everyone. In the midst of it all, I was invited to show a few pieces in a group show at SB Contemporary. It was called 'Tis the Season'. 

It was an honor to be invited to show my work in this exclusive group exhibit at Jen Tough Gallery in Benicia, California by artist / curator Michael Shemchuk. The Opening was originally to be on December 1, 2018. Unfortunately, the tragic fire that devastated Paradise, California was only 75 miles north. It changed everything.

Working with encaustic wax is a challenge at the best of times. It's easier to work small because the melted wax hardens within seconds between the hot plate and painting. You need to work fast or the wax on your brush won't spread. To create a large painting with encaustic wax requires almost super-human speed. Let me tell you more about my process ...

Summer is quickly fading and I hope yours was especially memorable in a good way.
Having just returned from our annual trip to Shediac, New Brunswick visiting my parents, I'm feeling relaxed, thankful and creatively rejuvenated.

Although I couldn't be at the opening reception of 'Learning Curve', the curated group show I'm in at Jen Tough Gallery in Benicia, California, I was there in spirit.The reception was live streamed and lots of people sent me pics as well.

A couple of weeks ago I had a long overdue Open Studio, my first in about three years. It was a lot of work, but well worth the effort. See how it all came together in the end.

Last week I had the pleasure of being interviewed by my friend, California artist, Nicholas Wilton. It was a lively conversation via Skype about the need for constant "Reinvention".....

Artsy Shark just published their list of the 24 top painters in "The Abstract World".  I was thrilled to be selected from over 1000 submissions.

My painting 'Degrees of Separation'  below was sold almost before the paint had a chance to dry :)

Recently I was looking at some small unfinished encaustic pieces that just weren't working. So I made a bold move.

Recently, I attended a professional artist workshop in Victoria, B.C. with California artist Michael Shemchuk. It was a game-changer for me and I'm excited to tell you about this incredible experience.

Everyone loves watching short informative videos. It gives us all a much better visual experience than simply reading or looking at a photo. So, last week, I jumped in and created a 3 minute video about my studio and upcoming Open House. Want to know how I did it?

On December 31, New Years Eve, I opened the mail and was thrilled to see an article about me in Professional Artist Magazine (FEB/MARCH 2017 issue) Great way to begin 2017 !! See page 44 & 45 

I was recently challenged to try painting on a new format size with long, skinny dimensions. 

I've placed two of them in this dining room photo below to give you an idea of how they look. Get a closer look at the details by reading further.

Like most people, I don't Google myself very often. But every once in awhile someone mentions they saw something about me online. Of course this piques my curiosity.

Hosting my recent Open Studio certainly stirred up some unexpected interest from other venues, to show my paintings. I now have a bunch of events lined up until the end of 2018. See what's coming up.

As promised in my last post, here are three of the new paintings I completed in Victoria, B.C. The first of this triptych is below.
