Over my past 23 years of being a professional artist, I've worked in all kinds of different studio spaces. These have included a cold damp basement, a hot cramped attic, the back room of busy gallery and an unused space in a friend's import business.
My dream was always to have a studio space in a large, quiet warehouse with high ceilings and garage doors. My dream came true In 2005. My husband and I bought a small commercial building that was in receivership. He moved his business to the the main building. I took over the 1800 square foot warehouse for my studio.
Initially the warehouse was a grimy, greasy black hole with no lighting or heat. After several months of power washing, painting and upgrading, my dream studio finally took shape.
I use folding tables so I can move them around for different project work areas. It's funny how fast I got used to having so much space to work in. I especially love the openness of having 18 foot ceilings and a garage door that I can open when the weather permits.
